The Institute for Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution (IPSCR), a Mumbai-based organisation working for Communal harmony and Peace, is calling for nominations for the Damle- Fatehlal Award. This award is presented to remarkable and hardworking grassroots worker (with direct engagement with the community) working for peace and communal harmony, in the form of a memento and an amount of Rs 5,000 as a token of encouragement and appreciation for these unsung heroes.

Last year this award was given to National Alliance of Women’s Organizations (NAWO), Orissa, for its profound work in rehabilitation of Kandamal violence victims and Peace initiatives to bring dialogue and reconciliation in the region. NAWO also demanded accountability of State in the process of rehabilitation. The jury for this year’s award is Justice Suresh Hosbet, Adv Mihir Desai and Dr. Ram Puniyani.

About the Award:

Damle- Fatehlal award is given in the fond memory of Vishnupanth Damle and Sheikh Fatehlal, who were the founding partners of the famous Prabhat Film Studio which is today known as the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. This award is relevant today because it sets an example of Hindu-Muslim friendship.

Rules and Regulations:

1) Selection by the Jury will be based only on the CVs sent. All nominations should be complete with a detailed CV detailing experience in field work, highlights, success stories etc. The CVs should be neatly typed and can be in Hindi or English.

2) Two references are to be sent with the nominations of maybe academicians, well-known activists or any accomplished persons

3) The decision of the Jury will be final and irrevocable

4) The organisers have the liberty to seek for further details or clarifications on the CVs if found necessary

5) Nominations can be sent through post too or on the email

6) The last dates for the nominations is 15th June 2011
